Mitropoulos Conducts Mahler — Symphony No. 9

The elusive, legendary performance of 2 October 1960 — now available in greatly improved sound!

Dimitri Mitropoulos focused on the music of Gustav Mahler during his last years. His stunning live performance of Mahler’s Symphony No. 9 with the Vienna Philharmonic from October 1960 was made a month before his death, and is now available in an eminently listenable 24-bit restoration that abates and remedies serious audio problems that marred previous issues. This release is also available from HDTracks.

Toblach Ausgabe – historic classical recordings for the serious collector

Welcome to the online home of Toblach Ausgabe, a maverick independent label focusing on underexposed great classical recordings from both the studio and concert hall, restored and remastered for modern listeners, collectors, and streamers. The label is being managed by producer/engineer Charles Martin with the help of a network of record collectors, music industry veterans, and the newly established International Performance Practice Archive.

Our download store offers our releases in HD, CD-quality sound, and in many cases highest-quality mp3. Unlike certain of our competitors, our downloads include informative original liner notes (not short bios cribbed from Wikipedia) in pdf format.

For those of you seeking to purchase physical product, we will be providing on-demand CD-R editions starting in 2019 available here and through a limited number of retailers.

Additionally, we will be partnering with other independent labels to offer historic recordings for download.
